Mindfulness – paying attention to the present moment with an attitude of acceptance and compassion – helps enable us to move through our lives and our world with greater skill, ease, clarity, capacity and compassion.  Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help us navigate the challenges we face in our personal, academic and professional lives, and in the world at large.

Mindful USC is a service of the Provost’s Office with a mission to help contribute to a culture of mindfulness and compassion on and beyond campus. We offer secular, evidenced-based classes, retreats, workshops, trainings and other mindfulness-based programming – all of which is completely free of charge to students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni.

There is a large and rapidly growing body of scientific evidence that supports what the ancients have known for millennia  – that mindfulness and compassion practices can positively impact health and wellbeing physically and mentally, as well as individually and collectively.

Taught by highly experienced teachers who embody wisdom and kindness, Mindful USC offers a wide range of free classes, beginning with introductory classes like Mindfulness Lab 1 and Mindful Self-Compassion.  Students may then go on to take a wide range of advanced and applied classes such as (but not limited to): Developing a Home Meditation Practice, Working with Stress and Distress, Untangling Anxiety, Cultivating Happiness and Joy, Mindful Writing, Mindful Creativity, Mindful Parenting, Mindful Eating, Mindfulness for Neurodiverse Learners, and a new set of Eco-Mindfulness classes that help us experience connection and a sense of wellbeing in our relationship to the natural world.

We thank you for considering supporting our efforts to cultivate mindfulness and compassion on ourselves, on our campus and in the world.

Please know you are welcome to join us any time in one of our classes to learn and practice mindfulness and compassion together.  We hope to see you!  And we thank you.
