Neurotech@USC: Support USC Neurotech Innovation
Neurotech@USC is a professional society for neurotechnology at USC. Each year, we bring together students and experts from neuroscience, engineering, and computer science to build cutting-edge projects in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), artificial intelligence, and neuroscience. These projects are presented and compete at the California Neurotechnology Conference, where hundreds of academics and industry professionals gather. In the past, our members have developed tools like classifiers for diagnosing neurodevelopmental disorders, a device that quantifies fatigue levels in real-time, and other interdisciplinary innovations that push the boundaries of neuroscience and technology.
This year, we are seeking support to help fund the resources, travel, and accommodations necessary for our students to attend the conference. Your contribution will allow us to purchase essential equipment—such as commercial-grade BCI headsets—to participate in the BCI competition, and will ensure that USC is well-represented on a statewide stage. A sample breakdown of expenses includes $3,000 for BCI headsets, $1,200 for conference registration, $1,000 for transportation, $1,600 for lodging, and $700 for materials, totaling approximately $7,500. These investments directly support USC students in gaining hands-on experience and exposure to leaders in neurotechnology.
Neurotech@USC plays a key role in empowering students to transform their academic knowledge into real-world applications. Many participants go on to conduct research, publish papers, and join leading companies in the neurotech space. We’re proud to share that our team competed in the BCI competition for the first time at this year’s conference, and continues to develop projects that receive attention from faculty and professionals alike. With your support, we can continue this legacy of innovation and excellence. You’ll be helping USC’s brightest minds engage with the broader neurotechnology community, share their ideas, and potentially spark the next big breakthrough in neurotech.
All RSOs are approved by the university and are student-run and student-led. RSOs are affiliated with the university but not part of the university. All RSOs operate with open membership and any currently enrolled USC student may join. RSOs also operate within the university’s non-discrimination policy:
