Spearheading initiatives to plant trees on LA’s Eastside, reimagine the LA River, pioneer water reuse technologies, and transform transportation through improving public transportation and promoting sustainable supply chain practices, USC is working to make Los Angeles a more sustainable, equitable city. USC is actively involved in greening healthcare operations and creating community health improvements.
The USC Urban Trees Initiative (USC Trees) brings together faculty, staff, and student researchers to help the City of Los Angeles and local nonprofits grow an equitable and resilient urban forest.

USC enhances coastal resilience, promotes sustainable fishing and sea farming practices, and develops alternative energy solutions through impactful research, education, and outreach, addressing climate change and fostering a healthy coastal environment and economy in the busiest seaport in the Western Hemisphere.
Through cross-cutting initiatives and research launchpads, the Wrigley Institute is developing solutions to our planet’s most pressing environmental and sustainability problems. Inspired and fueled by students, the Arts & Climate Collective (ACC) supports their work and engagement with funding, guidance, and above all, community.
The USC Annenberg’s Center for Climate Journalism and Communication was established to leverage the expertise of the school’s renowned journalism and communication faculty to train journalists, communication professionals, and students to tackle the biggest story of our time.
